That pic was uber cool...good one!
Reebok is still around, though obviously not doing as well as Nike. I actually read a short biography on Michael Jordan that basically explained how Nike took over the sports sneakers market thanks to Michael Jordan. The same book said that prior to Michael Jordan, Nike was in the brink of collapse as a company. (at the time, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were both endorsing Converse, while Reebok's pull was the 'aerobics market' - which doesn't exist anymore)
Today, a few NBA starts (like Allen Iverson and Shaq O'Neal) still endorse Reebok - though not as aggressively as Nike (who gave a 90 million dollar endorsement deal to Lebron James, a kid fresh out of high school picked no.1 in last year's NBA draft before he even played a single game - that's how aggressive Nike is).
Interestingly enough though, Reebok is dominating the market in India (as my Indian friends here tell me) and no one cares about Nike over there. The reason they say is because of the fact that while Nike arrogantly used it's NBA stars to endorse their products there, Reebok cunningly used India's Cricket (it's a really weird sport thatn only Indians seem to know how to play, it's practically their religion the way football is to Brazil) players to endorse their products... so Reebok is still somewat doing ok.
If you wanna aska sneaker question, how about this:
What ever happened to L.A. Gear? :)
