question of the month #006

something potentially amusing for a change... inspired by my "favorite" client.

answer - mispronouncing my first name!!! i can get how you can misspell my name. i can get how you acCENT the wrong sylLAble. but i cannot get how you turn my name into the masculine form and expect me to respond positively, if at all. especially when i have sent at least half a dozen transmittals with my name clearly typed out - proper spelling and all.

for the record, it's
CLARICE
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English, French
Pronounced: kla-REES, KLER-is (English)
From the Late Latin name Claritia, which was derived from Latin clarus "clear, bright, famous".

and not
CLARENCE
Gender: Masculine
Usage: English
Pronounced: KLER-ents
From the Latin title Clarensis which belonged to members of the British royal family. The title ultimately derives from the name of the Clare river in Ireland.

thank you.

ooooookaaaaaaaaaay... people, you are not answering the question!!! pet peeve # 2 - when people don't give straight answers! *sigh*

ien - you would be surprised. people mispronounce my nick, too. they read it as fon-gi, as in lon-gitude, instead of fo-ngi, as in... hmm... as in... lo-nging? basta. yun.

people, please stick to the question. i want to know if i'm the only obsessive-compulsive person who gets bugged by the weirdest things. i.e. i want to confirm that i'm weird.

you're weird... ayan, kinonfirm ko na for you. hehehe

straight answer: actually, madami akong pet peeves. pero medyo normal naman, like mali yung sukli saken sa jeep/bus, or yung taong laging naka-smile when there's nothing to smile about, or yung hindi sinasara ng mabuti ang shower/faucet... ganon. yung tipong nakakairita talaga para sa lahat.

... therefore, weird ka fong. hahaha!

Hi, ngayon ko lang narealize yung pet peave ko. it's when people text "gutom na ME" or "punta ME diyan". Yuck! Do they think they're cute texting that way?

Btw, someone replied to me through email starting with, "Dear Mr. Risha Tobias". Aaaahhhhh!

-- sino pa? =P

pet peeve: people who make or enforce the rules, then break them and get away with it

e.g. police cars running the red light, government officials throwing their weight around, people in positions of "moral authority" with (gasp) mistresses and illegitimate children

whatever happened to leading by example?
